I suffered a break down with my car, luckily, I was able to limp it off the exit and into the parking lot of small plaza. I contacted AAA immediately, this was at 2PM. We went through the steps and I was told that normally someone from a tow company would be in touch within 20 minutes, but due to the fact I was needing a 100 mile free tow (part of my plan), it might take a little longer.2 hours later, nothing - no text, no calls, nothing. I call AAA back and I'm told by the operator "Oh, I'm very sorry but the first person never dispatched this, I'll send it through now" - This after going over all the information and confirming it.2.5 hours later - still nothing - at least this time I did receive a confirmation text - I call back and speak with a third person. This person says "Oh, I'm very sorry but the last person failed to put in the destination. I'll resubmit." At that point it was 6:30PM.I called another roadside assistance program at that point as I felt that AAA wasn't going to produce anything. That program, although VERY communicative (calling several times, texting, sending me a GPS report of where the tow truck was) also took quite sometime to actually produce a flat bed at my location. At nearly 9PM, I rec'd a call from AAA - they felt they found a trucking company who would flatbed me from NE Mass. to central CT. Their arrival time? Approximately 11PM. Thank God I was able to get off the highway - I can't imagine having to spend 9 hours waiting on the side of a very busy 4 lane highway - I495.I have opted to cancel my plan with AAA and will never use them again.I must mention that the second company I contacted also had trouble getting a tow company to drive the 100 mile (again, a free 100 mile as part of that program) distance, but took less than half the time than AAA.Big Question - If you offer a 100 Mile free tow service, shouldn't you be able to actually provide that service in a timely manner? Shouldn't you have the tow companies lined up for that service?Very frustrating day/evening - I didn't arrive home until nearly 2AM - 12 hours after reporting my breakdown.
