Online Customer service is to tell you there is no customer service!

I’m pretty sure customer service is there to tell you they have no customer service. The woman I spoke with were very kind but the policies they have to follow are absurd. An address change was needed on a package of mine (the zip code was wrong) I recently moved and had a moment of stupidity ,so I called customer service the morning after I made the order and they said they could not help me. I would have to wait until it’s shipped and call the carrier. so I called fedex and they told me that it had to be the sender who changed the address so I called Abercrombie back and they said we don’t make outgoing phone calls? So I said ok what can u do for me? They said nothing. I said perfect what happens to the package? She said if it’s sent back to us than we don’t resend packages we just return them. I use to work for this company for many years and the customer service we were to give in store was amazing even if an item was stolen we were to return it giving the idiot who stole it the money for it! But they apparently cannot help their online customers I use to bag and ship the Orders so I find it strange that a code change was so difficult. We printed the labels right there and slapped them on the order to be than picked up by fedex themselves. I went out of my way many times for my customers when working at this store because I knew the money they spent there. Abercrombie & Fitch customers are loyal because we love the brand and the quality however something needs to be done about online service since now they are closing stores everywhere because they aren’t making the money they used to and have a goal of being All or mostly online. Unbelievable honestly. Especially during a pandemic where most everything is online your online customer service is horrible. I pretended to be the sender and fixed it myself no thanx to Abercrombie & Fitch
