I have been an American Express credit card customer for many years using their Gold card. I have been on time with my payments and used the card regularly. I recently switched to their Express card as it has no annual fees. I payed the monthly payment two days late as my Gold card was always due on the 5th of each month and I had it confused with that payment date. I asked them if they would waive the $29.00 late fee due to me being a long time customer always paying on time. They declined saying they could not waive the fee. I told them I will stop using their card. If they cannot do a one time exemption for a long term loyal customer then this is pretty sad. They would rather lose a long time customer with all my business for $29.00.
