I’ve been an American Express Gold Card member for 34 years. I also had a very substantial amount of money in their high yield savings account. Recently I had a very poor outcome with a services vendor and disputed the charge. I supplied a very detailed account of the issues, high quality photos, and every aspect of information that proved my case. You would have to be a complete idiot to look at all of this information and not come to the conclusion that my money should be refunded by the services vendor. After several weeks of waiting, American Express came back with a response stating that I would have to work it out with the service provider. I ended up eating the money and had to have the job completely redone at another company costing me double the amount it should have. I recently closed my high yield savings account and am dropping American Express like a rock because of this situation. I don’t believe that they have competent people making important decisions for their customers anymore. My strong advice; find a better credit card company and do not do business with American Express. Jeff
