I broke my old phone and needed a new one before moving abroad to Spain for a year. AT&T told me and it was IMPOSSIBLE to buy a phone ANYWHERE with the carrier unlocked. A flat out LIE, you can buy one at the apple store easily. Now, not only will they refuse to unlock my new phone for me so I can get a Spanish phone number, they have avoided my calls, AND lied to me several times saying that they did unlock it when they actually didn’t. Additionally, I have continually received people on the phone that have no idea what they are talking about and it is clear that in many cases, I know more about this issue than them. Not only is the international plan that I am currently relying on costing me $10/day, but my safety is at risk here due to a lack of ability to communicate with the directors of my study abroad program and my host family.
