Ebay did not say anything about there being a customs fee, when I purchased an item. I was later slapped round the face during delivery with a £60 customs charge. Before I paid it, I called up ebay support and was told by the agent that i'd be able to claim back the money paid afterwards through ebay, so I should go ahead and pay it. I paid it expecting the money back (why wouldn't I, that's what I was told by an official ebay agent). Surprise surprise, when I then contacted ebay again, after receiving the item and paying the customs charge to claim back the money, I was told that what the agent had told me wasn't true - they would not be able to refund any money - and that there was nothing they could do about it. No compensation, no apology - nothing. This experience has very much steered me away from using ebay in future. BE WEARY when using ebay!
