The Child Maintenance Service

The Child Maintenance Service is such an appalling organisation with no accountability. Despite the Child Support Agency being forced to close by the National Audit Office. Things have been worse under it's "successor". The Child Maintenance Service decided in my case not only to create fictitious arrears but to also break the laws on GDPR. In 2019, the sent confidential correspondence to an incorrect address in the wrong country. To add to this, they did not accept accountability. They blamed the paying parent when the receiving parent complained. They blamed HMRC when the paying parent complained. When HMRC complained they blamed the paying parent. When an MP complained, they went back to blaming HMRC. In order to resolve this issue, instead of sending the correspondence to the correct address, they applied a deductions of earnings order to the case with a 20% charge, penalising the paying parent for a mistake that wasn't his. Did they stop here? The answer is no. There are two cases. One open with CMS for one child, one private arrangement with three children. They awarded the case with one child £17 per week. They awarded the case with three children £2.98 in total. Completely disregarding their own legislation and the booklet titled "How we work out child maintenance" that they send with every new calculation. Over one year later, CMS still has not resolved these issues. The organisation is not fit for purpose for either parent. It is criminal to allow this to continue.
