This hotel brand use to be great. But now they are a bunch of foriegn owned greedy, disrespectful chains that do not give a damn about their customers and the customer experience. They just want to take your money and say F You. I booked a Candlewoods Suites Downtown Baltimore Harbor and called them to make them aware that I lost my wallet and only have a photo of my ID. I also informed them that I am a Platinum elite member and my card info is on file. The manager was the person that answered the phone and told me everything would be fine and just bring my photo copy of my ID. So now ai spend $27 on an uber to get there just to be told that I need my physical credit card to check in. But isn’t that why I called to comfirm if they would accommodate my special circumstances? So now after all that, I can’t check in because she will not process my credit card on file in my account for booking. Then she has the nerve to say to me “Well we had a lot of incidences where people used fake information”. Excuse me? So everytime a Black person is not perfect, we got to be up to mischief?!?! That was so offensive. And given I heard this thousands of times and I am sick of it. I am tired of being ostracized immediately because if the color of my skin. I always havw to overly prove that I am not what you immediately think of me. Im 42. This sh!t has to and will end with me. And to top this off, the same foriegn people that owns the hotels are also the customer service. They will treat white customers way better than Black. I have seen and experienced this with the Indigo Hotel in Baltimore. You want to know the messed up part. The higher end Kimpton Hotel Monoco has/had a majority Black staff and they treat me like a HUMAN BEING. They actually accommodated my circumstances. IHG Hotel customer service wouldn’t do Jack Sh!t to help me AT ALL. All they would say is “ Im Sorry”. And as I told them, “ Your “Im Sorry” doesnt mean a damn thing to me if you are not helping with a solution”. I had to pay $40 more than I planned for my overnight business trip. That was my food money for my trip back. IHG was going to just let me sleep outside on the street. Kimpton accomodated. And gave me a NICE room. Spa jetted tub and nice bathroom. I felt so relaxed leaving that hotel. So if you ever go to Baltimore STAY AT THE KIMPTON and tell them Mr Canady sent you. They know me. All the other IHG in Baltimore will treat you like crap if you are not perfect.
