Very dissatisfied with return policy

We needed to return an item the same day as it was bought due to finding it cheaper at another store but was told they are not accepting returns. Now they are but for only the items bought within 14 days of receipt. There was never a post that said we are now accepting returns. We have a Kroger card. You would have thought it would have been simple to send out an announcement to its devout customers to let us know. Now we are out $35 and we are very dissatisfied. I will try not to go to Kroger anymore.
