I used to be a seller and a buyer on Mercari before the greed corrupted the owner.He just implemented a new policy on March 27th, 2024. The policy allows buyers to return items for any old reason giving scammers a platform to run on. Let's say someone has a broken toy, buy a working one from a Mercari seller, hits the return button once they recieved the working toy and sends the seller back the broken toy. Also this new policy took seller fees away (yay) but then past it on to buyers so once they hit check out they get a plethora of hidden fees (not so yay). We used to be able to factor in the fees when we set up a listing. The buyer only had to pay for the item, shipping, and tax. That's fair. Not whatever Mercari designed.Oh and to make matters EVEN WORSE! Mercari is holding money hostage from sellers unless the seller pays a fee to transfer that money to their bank. You heard me. Right now, sellers have to pay $2 to unlock any of their funds. So if you sell a $3 piece of jewelry, you lose $2 of that income that you will also be taxed on. Explain that to your tax guy. To top it all off, the CEO sent out the policy at night time before anyone had time to cash out their money before the big change. So those who had money sitting in their account, who already paid seller fees and processing fees, will have to pay an additional unfair $2.Boycott Mercari! Boycott Mercari! Boycott Mercari!!!
