As far as I can tell, Nest now exists as a sort of MVP, and keeping the infrastructure running is a bit of an inconvenience. The UI only changes when it's time to try to upsell something, and then it breaks. The web portal takes forever to connect to cameras and frequently disconnects, as well as forgetting settings. Even if you do the cookie cutter tech support dance, answering the same questions multiple times and rebooting everything "just in case", you will not receive any help.
