Shocking service. Rude, hostile and threatening - avoid!

Another review echoing many people's sentiments - the setup is essentially a scam. You can subscribe online, but you have to phone up to cancel. You can't cancel online, you can't do it via email, you have to call. Anyway, I cancelled my direct debit because who has time to sit waiting for half an hour on the phone to then listen to a determined sales pitch before being able to cancel? I do not. I cancelled my direct debit on the 1st of March when I noticed the price had gone up - my subscription was the 1st of every month. Roll on the 4th of April, I got a telephone call telling me that I couldn't just cancel my direct debit, I had to call them to cancel my subscription and I owed them £9.69 (where she plucked that value from I don't know, my subscription was £10/month). The lady was very hostile on the phone, and told me that they would keep calling until I cancelled my subscription and paid them this £9.69 that I apparently owed. I told her to put it to me in writing, she asked for my address - surely they should already have it? I refused to give it to her, she said she couldn't verify that she was talking to the billing address person and kept pushing me to give her my address. I did not. She said she would send it out in writing then (why not do that in the first place?) - I've since blocked the 020 number The Times call from.Absolutely shocking service. The lady was hostile, rude and threatening. Not to mention the quality of the newspaper has gone vastly downhill in recent years. Avoid at all costs, not worth the stress and hassle of cancelling.
