While I have hired good contractors in the past on Thumbtack, My most recent experience has shown me that Thumbtack can no longer be trusted. I hired a contractor to refinish my hardwood floors. He did a terrible job, and there were huge very obvious scratches and grooves in the floor. I informed him of this, but he refused to redo the job. I refused to pay him the last $500 of the $3000 that he charged for the lousy job that he did, and I left him a bad review on thumbtack. Thumbtack then deactivated my account after I left a bad review. This means that thumbtack is simply siding with all the shady contractors out there that do terrible work and run off with your money
