Garbage paper

Garbage paperThe Daily Mail is a garbage rag paper. Plagued with poorly written & poorly researched articles. Many are simply copied off other websites (such as Mumsnet) or newspapers (The Guardian) and lauded as if the "journalists" - many with horrible grammar & spelling skills so calling them legitimate journalists is an insult - did it themselves. The low class of the paper itself is better reflected in many of the comments made by readers. A number of the readers are (revealed by their ignorance, stupidity, naivety, or responses of questionable ethics/morals) likely low minimum wage working class, welfare, and poorly educated. Be they American, British or of faked ethnicity (there's been "Spanish", for example, on the DM who are incredibly ignorant of Spanish culture). There are a few reasonable people who read the Daily Mail. But not that many. As said it's a rag paper. It censors responses - even if there is nothing racists, rude, etc. about them - which is annoying if trying to educate people on something they blither about but know little of.What's the most surprising though is how a number of extremely sarcastic responses get top of the worst comments. These are true British dry wit responses - something the average American, Canadian & what not non-UKer struggles to understand/grasp because they are not raised on the dry cutting humour of the UK. I say that as someone who has lived in N. America where a British professor was cracking jokes (I was the only one who got them; all the Americans/Canadians were looking around dazed & confused). So it makes one wonder how many actual British of old British families (so authentic British not recent migrants nor fakes pretending to be British by saying they're from the UK in their profiles) read the Daily Mail. Particularly when it's got two home pages - one for the US and one for the UK.

Review of channel4

What is wrong with Channel 4 every time…

What is wrong with Channel 4 every time you get into a documentary it says oops. How embarrassing and switches off it. Does it with every TV in My Home on Channel 4 you can’t never complete a program because it just switches off and I don’t know who to contact to complain about this.

Wildly wrong, always

I don't know where AccuWeather pulls its information from for my location (Greymouth, NZ) but it never, ever resembles the actual weather. Not just sometimes wrong: it's **always** wrong.

A Never-Ending Nightmare: My Experience with Dell’s Faulty Laptop and Customer Service Failures

In July 2024, I purchased a Dell XPS 15 9530 laptop (Service Tag: FB81P34), a high-end device costing over $2,000, expecting it to be a reliable tool for my professional needs. Instead, the laptop was riddled with defects from the start: screen flickering, distorted audio, power warnings, and an unresponsive trackpad. Initially, I managed by using headphones, an external monitor, and an external mouse, but the problems persisted. After 77 days, I reported the issues to Dell, confident they would provide a solution.Dell’s response involved extensive troubleshooting and diagnostics, consuming hours of my time. A technician replaced the screen, resolving a single pixel issue and the flickering, but critical problems like the audio distortion remained. Despite months of effort and detailed evidence, Dell refused my requests for a replacement or refund, citing their 30-day return policy. In December 2024, Dell escalated the case to their depot service, requiring me to send the laptop for repair. Initially, I planned to ship it from Ottawa, but because Dell delayed the process with repeated remote troubleshooting, I brought the laptop with me to Edmonton for the holidays. When they finally requested the laptop, I provided my Edmonton address for the shipping box. Dell promised a five-business-day repair turnaround. While the laptop was at the depot, Dell contacted me to seek approval for an Operating System Reinstallation (OSRI), which I reluctantly approved after explaining that this solution had already been attempted in the past. After 11 business days since shipping, I followed up, calling them out for taking more than double the expected time and highlighting how significantly this delay was impacting my business. Instead of addressing my concerns, Dell stopped responding to my emails and immediately shipped the laptop back to Edmonton without any communication or confirmation regarding the repair or testing process. By the time they shipped the laptop, I was already back in Ottawa. The proper approach would have been to confirm the shipping address first, but this step was entirely ignored.Throughout this ordeal, I corresponded with several Dell representatives, including Saikrishna S, Mavuri Hemanth, and Swapneel Kajale. Despite their initial engagement, none of them have responded to my recent emails. Their silence has left me with no way to address the unresolved issues and demonstrates a lack of accountability from Dell’s support team. This failure to communicate has only exacerbated the frustration and further delayed any potential resolution. This situation has had a serious impact on my business. The countless hours spent troubleshooting, following up with Dell, and trying to manage my work without a reliable laptop have been exhausting. As a high-end laptop, the Dell XPS 15 9530 was meant to meet my professional needs, but the persistent issues have forced me to consider purchasing another laptop, further straining my finances. The disruptions caused by Dell’s mishandling have resulted in lost productivity and missed opportunities, compounding my frustration with their inability to provide adequate support. At this point, the repair status of the laptop is entirely unclear. It remains in Edmonton while I have returned to Ottawa. Dell has not responded to any of my emails, leaving me without a functioning laptop and no way to resolve the situation. This mishandling has caused significant disruption to my work and eroded my trust in their brand.Dell’s refusal to communicate or take accountability for this ongoing ordeal is unacceptable. At this stage, the only reasonable resolution is a full refund for the defective laptop and acknowledgment of their mishandling of the situation.

Capital One/Capital One Travel: Customer Beware!

In May 2024 I booked a rental car via my Capital One Credit Card/Capital One Travel. This is my first time booking a car with them. Unlike any other rental car companies where they don’t require credit card information or upfront payment, Capital One required me to pay for the reservation upfront with my Capital One credit card. The price showed is identical to booking .com ($349.02) so I decided to go with Capital One because Capital One credit card would provide collision insurance coverage. On same day, 5/8/24 I received an email from Capital One confirmed my reservation details with Fox Rent A Car. This is also my very first time getting a rental car with Fox Ren A Car. Never heard the name before this. Coming back from the trip, I noticed an extra charge of $179.14 from Fox Rent A Car posted to my credit card account. I immediately contacted Capital One but first was told to call Fox Rent A Car directly. I argued that since I booked the car with Capital One, it is their responsibility to resolve this issue with Fox, not me. And since I didn’t purchase any additional options, there is no reason why I should pay more than the price quoted. On next day, Capital One called me back to tell me that "they had contacted Fox Rent A Car and learned that this $179.14 charge is a 'mandatory protection fee’ that I have to pay.” If you have ever rented a car you know that you will always pay exactly the price quoted, unless you decide to buy additional insurance or other protections. Never ever you have to pay for what is called "mandatory protection fee” or if there is additional fee, it is listed upfront together with other booking details and be included in the total price. Capital One is either so incompetent that they weren’t even aware of this additional charge, or worse they knew it but deliberately deceived me into rental a car with them. It is so cheap giving the reputation of a big name credit card company like Capital One. If you consider doing business with Capital One Travel, you may want to think twice about it!
