I was just billed $299 CAD for a premium subscription that I did not get any prior notice of the price as part of the annual renewal. I tried Academia on a trial basis and had a reminder to cancel the renewal by end of year. Unfortunately, I lapsed the renewal by one day. The renewal was on the 27th, I cancelled my account on the 28th and asked for a refund since I was not going to use it for the next 12 months; I didn't even have an account anymore. Academia refused to provide any refund. This is not the way business is done! I cannot tell you how frustrated I am, as a retiree on fixed income, $299 is a bit of money!
