I took the plunge and signed up for Amex Platinum. Full of excitement, I went to the airport with the main perk that they promote on their card... Lounge access. When I get there it turns out that there is no access guaranteed and I have to wait 45 minutes. Now I'm spending a fortune in Stansted with things I should have covered in my (incredibly expensive) card. In short, don't get Amex Platinum, it's a con.
