There aren't any checks and balances. Parents will take advantage of you, use you for your services then never pay. Care.com has a stringent vetting process for caregivers but not family members. You reach out to care stating what you are owed and they wipe their hands stating it isn't their problem and to resolve on your own. You then have to turn the families into the state labor department as well as find an employment lawyer. It's ridiculous.
