Serious Caution: Confirmed Premium Domain Purchase Canceled After 20 Days

I want to share a serious warning about my recent experience with Namecheap’s domain marketplace.I purchased a premium domain name through their platform for a large amount of money. Payment was processed immediately, and I received written and verbal confirmation that the sale was successful. Based on this confirmation, I relied on the transaction, stopping my search for alternatives and beginning preparations for branding.Twenty (20) days later, I was informed that the transaction was being canceled because the third-party seller failed to complete the transfer. Namecheap issued a refund but refused any further responsibility despite having confirmed the sale.In my opinion Namecheap’s Terms of Service attempt to disclaim any liability for failed sales, but legally and ethically, once a company accepts payment and confirms a sale, a binding contract exists under basic contract law (offer, acceptance, consideration, mutual assent). In my case, the domain was worth substantially more than the purchase price, meaning the financial harm caused by their cancellation was significant. Simply refunding the original payment is not a fair remedy when real damages are involved. This experience shows that buyers have no true protection when buying expensive domains on Namecheap’s marketplace.Even after confirmation and payment, you can lose everything weeks later without any meaningful recourse. In short:- Namecheap confirmed the sale and accepted payment, creating a binding obligation.- They canceled the transaction 20 days later, despite full buyer performance.- Their policies leave customers exposed with no real protections for high-value transactions. If you are considering purchasing aftermarket or premium domains through Namecheap, be extremely careful. If a problem arises, Namecheap's policy is to simply refund your payment, without accountability for the damages you may suffer. Please learn from my experience and think carefully before trusting Namecheap with significant transactions.
