We packed a picnic (as there isNo cafe) and drove for over an hour to get here . We planned a walk around the estate with our dog and a visit to the walled Garden and partarre.Although advertised as open the hall was closed (April 11th) as were the toilets. Also the walled garden is not accessible any more. There are signs which state residents only.’The partarre garden is densely overgrown and litter is strewn around. In general the woodland area is poorly managed with one main path totally blocked. A very disappointing visit on a beautiful sunny day. If you are interested in horticulture and a country walk then this is a place to be avoided. Come on National Trust you can do better than this. The place is letting you down. The Shuttleworth family must be turning in their graves at the state of their once beautiful property.
