Love Petfinder

Both my wonderful dogs (past and present) found me and I them on Petfinder. People complaining may not understand how the site works. It puts you in touch with rescues and how those rescues operate is up to the rescue. Petfinder is not evaluating you as a pet parent, the rescues are. I am grateful for Petfinder and have many friends who’ve also found their wonderful animal companions there!

Petfinder.com is a Ripoff

I would rate petfinder.com 0 stars if I could. I paid $30 to advertise my pup for rehoming. Petfinder.com was awfully quick to take my money, but since then I have heard nothing from them. There was not one inquiry, just total silence. I’ve been trying to contact them for four weeks to cancel my account, but I always get the same message…”There seems to be something wrong on our end. Please try back later.” What a ripoff! Can’t even communicate with this company. Total waste of money!

A sham

A sham. I have applied twice to adopt a dog that needs a home through the Lebanon OH based dachshund rescue. As a veterinarian, I am starting to question this organization. Zero response.

Pet Adoption

After filling out the applications, submitted so many inquiries on pets and sent so many emails, I still receive no response. I have found matches on the website, send inquiries to try to adopt the dog(s) and never hear back from ANYONE! Petfinder is nothing but Scam. It's just a waste of time thinking anyone will reply to your inquiries. It is extremely frustrating. It's probably best to just go to a local shelter.

Not a very good experience …THREE times.,

I was mommy to a beautiful 15 yo girl who passed away Early March. She had a list of health problems..all treatable due to diabetes she was diagnosed with five years before she passed. I spent a small fortune on vet care..she had an internist..ophthalmologist..and allergist all part of a reputable group. I made sure she lived her best life. She was a huge part of our family. Early June..I decided to look into adoption. Was told about Pet Finder. Found a beautiful girl..who happened to have an eye condition leaving her blind in one eye..My girl lost her sight due to diabetes..so the eye condition was fine. I spoke to my girl’s ophthalmologist and she had a few questions regarding this baby’s treatment. I wrote the group fostering her and got a short letter saying they will answer no questions till an application is filled out..Filled out a long detailed applications..Gave them references and my vets liaison who knows us very well. The liaison assured me.. when they called it would be very apparent the type of pet owner I am. So..I waited and waited…and waited. Did not hear from the group and they never called my vet..or any references. Emailed them and got a form letter back saying if you hear nothing..you are not a good fit for that dog. HUH? They never spoke to me or my vet group. Not a good fit..Based on what?..So..I moved on. Try number two..Different group, Never heard a word from them either. Tried once more..Strike three. Never heard from that group except to say..They are all volunteers..very busy..and cannot get back to everyone. I had my girl for 15 years. I am a dedicated..loving..pet owner. My dog lacked for nothing. I realize I am very fortunate and could afford her specialists care. She was a huge part of our family. She was really my ride or die. She had amazing life and I wanted to open my heart and find another dog to share my life with. Two of the three dogs I inquired about are still on Pet Finder. I have talked to other peopke who have had similar or worse experiences. Are these groups a scam. Is Pet Finder checking these groups references before allowing them to post dogs? These groups ask alot of personal information before they will share any information about the animal you are interested it. One application asked what hours during * the day would the dog be alone. Not how many hours..but WHAT hours?.. No one’s business.. I wonder if anyone from Pet Finder ever checks into the validity of these rescues? Or asks to approve these applications and types of questions being asked by these groups.

I think i just got scammed

I think i just got scammed. I did the interview giving out all kinds of personal information in hopes of adopting and you dont get any returned calls or emails.Worst of all it was an interview to a blocked phone number. YIKES…I should know better but I really wanted this dog. If I dont hear anything today I will file a police report. Dog was located in Oakville and it turns out their address is a post office box at a store. Dogs name is “Lincoln”

I went to pick up a male dog I had paid…

I went to pick up a male dog I had paid for after approved, and saw that she was a female in person. The "brother" I originally wanted was also listed as a male and was named Kyle on the website, but when we saw Kyle in person the name was changed to Kylie. We opted for another dog for adoption, and all of the names and and pictures online are switched with other members of the same litter, everything is incorrect. Now I don't trust whether or not the microchip number and vaccines are even accurate or were given to this dog. Very sketchy service. The people at petsmart clearly stated the website ALWAYS does this and that it isn't their fault or problem, and that theyre only responsible for bringing the dogs there... So not f*** cool. This website is false advertising... the only reason I'm not crazy upset is because the dog was $450 bucks. I'm hoping there's nothing wrong with the one I ended up choosing. Some of the pups appeared to have lots of issues, and when I spoke up about one of the pups ears being pure black black inside and possibly having ear mites, as she had scabs all over her head from itching, the people stated "no it's just dirt." I've worked for a vet for 4 years now and I know a sick dog when I see one... She sold me a food that petsmart had a coupon for, and no one could tell me if the dog was currently eating that specific food, i goy different answers from everyone.Be careful with their website and never sign any paperwork until you see the pup in person. Schedule a vet visit asap after you get the pup, hopefully if something is wrong within 30 days you can get a refund and return the pup. So glad I got a vet appt 2 days after I adopted my pup. She's already sneezing like crazy and I'm a worried mess. I shouldn't have to go through this.

No one contacts you back

No one contacts you back. They want you to adopt a dog. But out of five dogs that I inquired about, only one person got back to me.
