I rented a place and was unable to get there because Toronto airport closed due to Delta crash. Unable to rebook until 5 days into a seven day vacation. So I didn’t go. I understand that this is outside VRBOs control BUT I still was charged a cleaning fee (for the house I never entered). Petty. When I tried to post about it in a review, VRBO would not let me post. So yeah I’m bitter about losing $5000 through no fault of my own (yes it was insured but insurance refused to cover) but their “book with confidence” guarantee is complete bull. Customer service was of zero help. UPDATE: April 3, 2025 I am not entirely sure how it happened but I have received a full refund for the cost of the rental. Sent from Vrbo to Hyperwallet to PayPal and is now in my bank account It was a very pleasant surprise, as I did not request a full refund (I understand that flight cancellations are beyond the control of the homeowners and Vrbo and would have been content with a partial refund). Again, not sure whether it was this review or my many calls to Vrbo but I’m glad I persisted and I hope that this can happen for other people too.
