The accommodation we booked turned out to be fake. The accommodation simply did not exist. This left us sitting on the curb for hours and contacting VRBO via chat who still did not even bother to contact me by phone. Despite VRBO refunding me the payment to rent the accommodation, this scam still cost me 400 Euro. We were allowed to re-book and they would refund any extra amount we had to pay, but only for bookings on their websites. I was forced to book through another platform because VRBO's websites do not allow booking on the same night. So to meet their conditions, I just had to sleep on the street the 1st night, which was not an option for me. Since I had made a booking with booking.com (I had no choice), VRBO does not want to refund me the extra money i had paid. Other expenses incurred, due to the scam through their website, such as phone and gasoline for the car, they reimbursed at 100 Euro, barely 90 Euro after exchange rate. All in all, because of my booking with VRBO I lost 300 Euros. Not to mention the mental setback that this experience gave on our vacation I cannot understand how it is still possible these days that booking platforms can have fake ads. This proves that VRBO does not screen their advertisements What is done at booking.com, AirBNB and others.
