Review of vrbo

Stick with AirBNB...

After successfully using AirBNB a couple of times, I tried VRBO. I booked a place in Santa Fe well ahead of our trip, but 10 days prior to the trip, the owner of the place pulled it from VRBO and gave us our money back as he decided to sell it instead. As it was so close to the date of the trip, there were no other places to rent in a similar price and location. The right thing for VRBO to do would be to help us book a similar location at a similar price point and credit us for the difference. But they couldn't or wouldn't do this. So I won't be using VRBO in the future and will be sticking with AirBNB.

Big improvements

There have been big improvements to Gemini. Versions 2.0 and 2.5 can now understand most of my prompts and carry out the tasks efficiently enough. It may not be an exact match for ChatGPT yet, but it's certainly making good progress. It's a very useful tool, overall.

Review of Shopify

Complete waste of time

Complete waste of time - just a complicated design platform, impossible postage costs system which seems to contradict Printful rates - and then just as you have set up your store and uploaded all your merchandise, they hit you with needing photo ID, a bank account and a Business account with Paypal before you get paid - although you can still take payments, which, conveniently, they keep in their account until you come up with all the regulatory info they demand. All this and you have to pay a monthly subscription for using a platform which a member of their support team called "overwhelming" when he was training on it. Luckily I have worked online and in retail for more than 20 years and know a load codswallop when I see it. Set up your own shopping platform and domain, add Paypal. You're good to go. Or you can spend your life jumping through Shopify's hoops. It should be called Stopify. See what I did there? I rebranded. You should, too, and avoid this pointless moneypit. I have spent three months on it and haven't sold one item. Oh, and if you think advertising on Pinterest is the key - don't bother with that either, because they have a long, long list of rules to fulfil before they will approve your Shopify store on their site. They even refuse to take down a member who has decided to use my trade mark as their user name, even though they are advertising the same products on their pinboard as I am selling. They sent me some obscure piece of legislation to prove that their member is perfectly entitled to use my registered trademark. There is a word for these sort of companies who trade on people's hopes and deliver nothing in return. You supply your own. Don't suffer the disappointment of getting enmeshed with companies that take your money and deliver very little in the end - and even let their users trade off your registered intellectual property. So here is an update - and it is exactly as I suspected. Shopify makes its money out of selling your data, it seems - which is why when I signed up, there was no mention of needing to register a bank account or send them a copy of my photo ID. I simply linked my Paypal account. This email, however, just arrived in my inbox - the value of Shopify is not in the number of successful sellers it has on its books, but the value of the personal information it gathers, including highly hackable data such as your passport or driving licence, date of birth, bank account details, Paypal account - and whatever else will be required in the future. This is not about the ease of selling your designs online, as their latest YouTube ad claims - it is about personal and financial data harvesting: highly valuable and also of great interest to lots of different agencies. If the CIA are buying in, perhaps Shopify would like to ask them if they would like to buy any T-shirts or a nice dress for those after work drinks. because that is probably the only way you are going to shift any designs in bulk. Here's the latest email from Shopify, after I was suddenly asked to provide them with my photo ID and add a bank account and my date of birth after three months of using the site. Incidentally, I do seem to have received the "previous email" about the app - and it is visitors who appear to have the chance to "opt out", whereas Shopify users have to upload all their highly saleable personal data before they can receive any revenue, which is around £6 (approx $8) per T-shirt you sell according to your pricing. It would be more profitable if you sold your own ID data, frankly - you would make more money; although this, of course, would be potentially illegal, as well as foolish."You have until November 1, 2021 to migrate to the new Customer Privacy app to continue to meet California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) standards. We’re following up on our previous email to remind you to migrate to the new app to stay compliant. Under the CCPA, California buyers need to be given the choice to opt out of the “sale” of their personal information. Based on our information, you've been using our current CCPA compliance app which is outdated. That version of the app will be turned off on November 1, 2021. When you download the new app you can easily create, edit, and publish a banner that lets visitors select if they’d like to opt out of the “sale” of their personal information or publish a CCPA opt-out page—no coding required. If you have questions, our dedicated support team is here to help.I keep asking your dedicated support team for help - what has now happened is that most f my stock is actually out of stock - including items I have just added. The interesting thing is that I only use products that are best sellers. Yet as soon as I upload a new design, they are out of stock - and some have been discontinued because despite being best sellers they are not popular enough.

DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY

This company is a complete joke. You can never talk to a real person it's always a damn recording. They will not fight on your behalf to get a refund if something goes wrong. They actually don't even care at all I have been waiting weeks for something that is so simple to resolve. 0 out of 10 stars.. Even -1 out of 10. Please Please Please don't ever ever use this site

A Fantastic E-Reader That Outshines the Competition

I’ve been using the Kobo Clara BW for over a month now, and it has exceeded my expectations in nearly every way. It’s a fast, responsive, and lightweight e-reader that delivers a seamless reading experience, especially when borrowing library books. The user interface is smooth, and page turns are quick with minimal lag. While there is occasional screen ghosting, it’s not a dealbreaker—just a minor distraction that doesn't take away from the overall experience. One of the things I really appreciate is how light and comfortable it is to hold, especially during long reading sessions. I also bought a clear case for it, which fits perfectly and adds a bit of protection without adding bulk.I bought my first e-reader in December, the Amazon Kindle, but by April I was already researching alternatives. That’s when I found the Kobo Clara BW, and I’m so glad I made the switch. It truly stands out in terms of performance and usability. If you’re looking for an e-reader that’s better than the competition, this is the one to get.
