IRS not even taking phone calls. Can't even make an appt at local office. Service is just plain awful and there's no accountability

My son needed to confirm his identity…

My son needed to confirm his identity for his stimulus check . After literally weeks of trying to call the number provided, we finally made an apt.we had to call and cancel the apt and the super nice lady said she could confirm the identity over phone. I had left his taxes at home so I could not provide the info.she says call THIS number back when you have the taxes and we can help. 1 week later we call same number.40 minutes on hold a super RUDE guy answered and said this was the wrong number to verify identity. I say but she told us this number and I said she made notes in the system.he said well she was wrong. I said can u look at the notes? He said no because it doesnt matter it's the wrong number then he said what was her name? I said if ud look at the notes you'd see. He hung up on us!! So then we call the right number, on hold for 1 hour and gave up. Wth is wrong with these people????

ZERO STARS. WHAT A JOKE. 3HRS ON HOLD AND GET DISCONNECTED. 2.5 HRS ON HOLD...2 HRS ON HOLD...DISCONNECTED. FINALLY ANSWER, THEY ASK 20 QUESTIONS TO VERIFY WHO YOU ARE, AND TELL YOU THAT THEY CANNOT VERIFY ME AND HANGUP. IRS website is pathetic, states one needs to setup an account to review returns,checks etc...and will not allow you to set up an account. Garbage pure Garbage

The IRS keeps processing things out of…

The IRS keeps processing things out of order and saying I owe money when infactthey owe me money. They have not processed my 2017 taxes properly which resulted in me owing 11k which was due immediately. An IRS tax preper redid them and now the IRS owes me 7k but is now saying I owe for 2020. How convenient. I called in to discuss it and the hold time was hours. After waiting an u reasonable amount of time the customer rep was rude, unhelpful and then transfered me because I wouldn't shut up. Well after holding for 2 hours and the IRS jerking me around I'm not going to shut up. She told me to just wait for them to process my return but they want 2k immediately. The biggest messed up part of it is that I'm poor. I have no money. I never have. I own nothing. I have no way to pay.

Horrible waste of time

Was on hold for 45 minutes to direct my call and when they answered my call it went to a department that said they were too busy and I need to call another day and the call ended. What a colossal waste of time. Just another example of how government screws everything up.

The help I received from the IRS this…

The help I received from the IRS this past week was first class, and I appreciate the gentleman I spoke with. He took his time helping me get my case resolved and figure out what the issue was I having with my case, and he made my day that much better and relieved me of the stress I was going through. Still have to wait a while for my money to come, but I already knew that with the world shutting down for over a year and the IRS just opening back up; they are trying to get everyone back on track.

I'm currently waiting to talk to someone at the IRS. Been on hold for 1:24 minutes as of right now. Just have a question about my $5,000 refund which includes a stimulus payment that they aren't supposed to hold... sooo....

Anytime you call they just hang up

Anytime you call they just hang up. I've been trying to speak to a person since 10am and while waiting I recieved a voice animated message that they are too busy with other callers and to call back TOMORROW!!!??? Completely unacceptable!!! You mean to tell me they can't call you back have you on hold until someone is available. It's only 10am. They are a JOKE.

I am well aware of the drastic impact…

I am well aware of the drastic impact COVID has had on the economy but every other sector, private and public, has readjusted appropriately. The IRS is abusing the pandemic delay excuse and the employees are rude and inconsiderate. Wait times are unreal. I’ve been waited on hold for over an hour only for the call to be answered by a “Ms. Cooper” who refused to give her ID number or allow me to speak with a superior. In fact she hung up on me after being condescending and placing me on another “hold” for 10 minutes. I attempted to call back but the lines were too busy! I’ve been waiting on my return since February and am only able to speak with an irs employee once a month, each time I’m given different information, directions and expectations. I’m just ready for the process to end.

Zero stars. An absolute joke of a government. I didn't get the 2nd stimulus check then I get a bill in the mail for $601 because they tax, tax money. Absolute joke. Been calling for 3 weeks. I didn't ask for a dam stimulus check, never recieved it. Then get billed for it. Absolute joke, can't talk to anyone about it because I just get a run around every time then it hangs up on me.. Couldn't be more disgusted. Why would you send out $600 gift cards with tweakers running around raiding mailboxes. The hell kind of irresponsibility is that. And the burden is on me.. what a joke. This is what the tax payer gets. But then let the drug addicts destroy town. Such a joke
