After calling for three days and waiting for hours, I was finally able to reach a customer service agent. This person didn't know how to handle the problem and offered no help. She was also rude and despotic toward me, and she hung up on me when I told her I would report the call. I demanded respect and help for my problem, which has been under review for 7 months.Erica O Silva
IRS gives bad govt a bad name if that is possible. It was bad enough before DOGE, now easier to talk to or beat one's head against the wall than contacting IRS. They acknowledged receipt of my 1040X in April 2023 but unable to offer any information on where it is.
The incompetence and uselessness of the IRS is mind blowing. I have one tax form, 5695, and contacted the IRS to answer a question regarding the form. Researched it first and couldn’t find the answer so I embarked on a 90minute journey, calling the IRS 6 times and experiencing their undeniable incompetence. Three times my call went to the wrong department and each time was advised they cannot transfer me nor can that advise who to contact. Two times I was put on hold and the line disconnected on their end. And the 6th time reached the correct department, and the gentleman asked me a bunch of personal information questions, asked me several times what form I am referencing, asked me what form 5695 is for, put me on hold for 15 minutes and returned to say he cannot answer the question, doesn’t know the answer and I need to research it on my own on their website.
You can't even call these people.I get it your busy,hire more people.Why have a phone number if you can call it.I get a letter saying I owe but,I can't even set up payment play because I have a duplicate account.That doesn't work because there's no way to update your email!!
I only left 1 star because I had to. I filed in February and have not heard anything. You try to call and its a stupid unhelpful phone system. The system says I'll see if I can transfer you. What a waste of time and energy. All I have is questions and would like human interaction. I've called many times and when my call was actually answered the staff member says oh I don't anything in that department, let me give you the number to call. I recite the number and the response yea that's it. What a joke!!!!!
