McAfee (and their customer service)

I have had McAfee before but this time it was on my new computer when purchased a year ago. In two days time it expires but for the last month at least I have been bombarded with emails telling me so. I have bought security from another company giving the same cover for one sixth of the price. They were going to charge £120+. I stopped auto renewal months ago and since I have been pestered by them to turn it back on. I managed to get a customer service rep to delete my card details. Fortunately I changed banks so the details they have do not exist anymore. On their site with data protection and trying to have my details erased from their system is a total nightmare. Three different times I have tried and their system does not allow it. Customer service reps. keep directing you to the failed site. Their systems and their site is terrible to negotiate and after they have taken your money they are not interested.13.12.21 I have tried to cancel my Email contact to prevent McAfee from sending me emails. Unfortunately you can't get through on the phone and they don't connect to their live chat. They are now storing my contact details illegally as the expired account does not fall into the exceptions within the data protection act. Every time you try and connect they don't answer and create tickets awaiting a response from me. They have become one of the most incompetent companies for customer service.

Terrible customer service

I purchased a PC from HP around 3 months ago. The PC has been good (HP Omen 40L). One night, while on the PC, it shut down and was beeping. Then, it would not boot.The next morning, on a Sunday, I went through troubleshooting over WhatsApp, and they said it needed to be repaired. However, their system was down so they could not book me for a repair.At this stage, I thought: fair enough, these things happen. I would still have been willing to give a 5* review at this point, as things break and that is life.Following this, they booked me in for collection on the Tuesday. They told me I would receive an email with a timeframe in the morning.I took the Tuesday off work, and waited. No email. I called them 7 times in total that day, spoke to agents who were clearly working from an off shore call centre, who all promised me it would be picked up that day. It wasn’t.So, I had had no contact, and had wasted a whole day.Wednesday comes around - I plan to wake up around 9am. I am woken by a knock on the door at 7:30am, and I miss the door. Turns out it was DPD picking up my parcel. They rearrange for the Thursday, and I manage to send it off then.Now, the repair itself only took 2 weeks. However, dealing with customer service during this time was difficult.The customer service department didn’t know the company who was repairing the PC. I used to work in insurance for goods like this, and we ALWAYS knew. Anyways, I ended up finding out with my DPD tracking code. I contacted that company, who said it was going to take over a month due to a parts storage, and they recommended I raise it to the customer relations team and request a replacement.I get back in contact with HP, who raise it, and promise me phone calls at many different times, none of which I receive. Eventually, I am contacted my customer relations, and he asks me to give him 24 hours to look into it. He promises me a call the following afternoon.The next day I wait all afternoon for a call, and finally receive it at 6pm (which I consider evening), and I missed it. This was on a Friday, so I had to wait 3 more days for more information.The Monday comes around, and surprise! The parts are actually in, and the PC is being fixed. It is now a day later, and I expect my PC to be returned tomorrow according to DPD. It is interesting that all of a sudden when I request a replacement, there is no longer a parts shortage.To sum up: the PC found a fault within 3 months (which ended up being the motherboard by the way), the customer service was terrible. The communication to myself during the repair was terrible.It was so bad, Curry’s actually offered to fix it for me for free so I didn’t have to deal with them, but I thought it was worth requesting a replacement first.I would suggest going for another company for your PC, or taking out an extra cover through curry’s perhaps so you don’t have to deal with HP yourself.

Trying to get cengage to work has been incredibly frustrating. The site is broken and difficult to navigate, the help center won't connect me with someone to help me, and overall the company is robbing people of their time and money. Buy your textbooks somewhere else.

iCloud lies to people

I have never setup my iCloud to back up data. When log in, it clearly states that my storage is empty. I keep receiving emails directly from Apple warning me that my iCloud storage is 95%full. That is a complete lie. They are trying to scare people and force them to upgrade for money. How low and pathetic is that from such a rich company? Disgusting practice. Scum

WordFence gives strong 1-stop WordPress security

I'm an experienced WordPress user. I turned to WordFence after a series of hacking problems that I could not resolve with local experts. Within days, the problem resolved. Holes plugged. Cracks sealed. Suspicious elements removed. Thereafter, I have had occasional threats identified and sorted with a few clicks of the mouse. Wordfence is clear, flexible, transparent, and communicative. I see what their system is doing, and I can control at a granular level. All the while, WordFence is operating the background to deal with problems I had no idea about. Support is 5*. I get quick replies and specific help. It feels that there are experienced staff picking up the emails and jumping to solve problems. I pay for the Premium subscription. I run 3 separate sites on that license. Their dashboard gives me a 1-stop view of all security issues on all my sites. Highly time and cost effective.
