Should be “0” stars. Almost impossible to reach anyone there by telephone. Takes multiple in person visits to get simple answers. I think this is intentional: they don’t want to deal with the taxpayers. They exist solely to collect lucre for the government!

Absolutely awful service

Absolutely awful service. I am a United Kingdom resident who is owed a refund by the IRS for tax paid on stock. Over 3 years there have been multiple letters exchanged (I tried calling but couldn't get through, or on another occasion they would not speak to me without a USA social security number - I'm a UK tax payer so don't have one!!). The letters they sent have been meaningless and have not answered the questions or addressed the information I sent to them. I will not give up as I am owed money, and will publicise this more if I don't get resolution very soon

Impossible to reach anyone

I had a question that was not answered on the website or through the website chat bot. I tried calling the help line FIVE times. Each time I waited about 20 minutes for the initial gatekeeper to transfer me and then I was disconnected after waiting for an additional 30 minutes. The first four gatekeepers attributed it to a heavy call load and said to keep trying. The last one was more honest. She said that they all work out of their homes and some don't have good internet/cellular connection. Really???? I then tried to schedule an appointment with the local office, but after waiting 30 minutes and finally reaching a real person I was told they are booked for the next 2.5 months and I can't schedule anything. What should I do? Try again later....

Irs is the worst nightmare that has…

Irs is the worst nightmare that has happened to the United States of America. I just got yelled at by a representative who was supposed to help me. I was on hold for 4 hours. I spoke to 5 different representatives. The fourth person was a nightmare. He didn’t give me a name. He started yelling on the phone. It was put on hold for another two hours. Yet, still, my case was not resolved. How frustrating can it be? Irs will take all your money and make it impossible for you to reach them. How is this corporation fair to the people? Who are there working for?

I had to wait on hold for a VERY long time, but these 4 stars are strictly going out to my customer service representative, Mrs. Kilbore (badge number 1004989245). She was amazing! She helped me with my issue, was so kind, and explained everything that was going on. She absolutely deserves a raise!!

Customer service and answers

Customer service at irs is horrible!!!!! Waited on the phone over 2 hrs and does the customer service representative do? Hung up, thanks. Improve and stop taking the people's money and doing nonsense with it. Irs deserves zero!!

a day agoNEW-Edit DeleteI have been getting letters since January saying my return had been randomly selected to review for accuracy. Each letter stated the review could take up to 60 days from the date of the letter. When the 60 days comes and goes, I call and get told that the review is really going to take up to 120 days from the date of the letter. I called yesterday when I had received my most recent letter and was told that because I called, the review was now going to take up to an additional 120 days. When I asked how she could get away with doing that, she said, "F*** YOU B****, YOU NASTY HO!" I can only assume she thought she had muted her phone because when I said, "Excuse me?" there was a silent pause and then the call was disconnected. It has now been 128 days since my return was received and the IRS still has not released my refund or given me an explanation as to why the review is being done, why it is taking so long, and why we are being punished for asking questions.

Help

Got a refund notice in the mail in march and we still haven’t actually seen the refund 3 months later now. I’ve called multiple times and can’t get anyone to pick up without being on hold for an hour and a half. Then the person tells me they’re gonna transfer me even though I selected the supposed number to talk to someone about a refund in the first place before getting put on hold. I guess pushing the number they say is for refunds in the directory doesn’t actually direct you to someone that can help you with that. Then every single time they say I’m getting transferred I get hung up on instead. This should not be this hard. I’m assuming I’m just never gonna see that refund. I have also tried the website and even though my taxes get filed just fine every year I’m told by the website that they can’t find me with my name and social security number.

Someday this inept den of thieves will be permanently abolished. Then they can pay the hotel bills for illegals.
